The Reason for Political Correctness in Freedom of Opinion and Speech
Everyone has an opinion and is thereby free to express it in any way as long as it doesn’t incite or trigger others. Free speech is a human right and should never be compromised. As such, it should be encouraged due to the likely outcomes if it’s not. However, the limitations of free speech help put in place a check for inclusiveness. Hence making some personal opinions shielded from the public hearing. Opinions that would never see the light of day have paved the way for the artful modification of opinions — popularly known as political correctness.
Is Beauty With Brains a Valid Compliment?
So when a compliment such as beauty with brains is uttered, the reactions can be hostile. Women who find a way to be intellectually sound while being outwardly beautiful often times find this complement demeaning. The question is, who says it’s not normal to have both?
Unrealistic Promises
My next concern is the rationality of the word ‘forever’. I might have said that I’ll be with you forever or till the end of time. Haha. That’s funny and it’s cracking me up. I think the phrase, “till the end of time” should be spoken by immortals who have since signed off from ‘flesh and blood’.
My Illustrious Dream
My beloved dream is the jealous type and would stop at nothing until my attention returned. At this point, I became the dream. It felt nice being wanted too. I never knew I could be a dream’s dream. That in itself was a dream come true.
The Importance of Humour and Laughter
Research has proved that laughter is a good cardio workout. The health benefits are enormous; from lowering our blood pressure to releasing endorphins and increasing the immune cells in our body.
Challenges of An African Bachelor
Marriage is believed to complete a person. A single man is expected to get a wife once he’s considered grown up. The same goes for the female who is approaching 30 years of age. But the focus today is on the male who has to deal with sneering remarks and disrespect just because he is single.
Good Products, Bad Producers
For clarity, let’s just say the issue with the producer has entirely nothing to do with the standard of products being produced and sold. Is it then fair to cancel or blacklist such a product even when it meets consumer satisfaction and also doesn’t infringe on any of the rights of the consumer?
Marrying Early or Late?
It is only logical to assume that those who are in their thirties and above are more advanced and certain of the choices they make; there is a purpose in what they are doing. Unlike early marriages that comes with many uncertainties; one party might not have metamorphosed into their true being at the time of marriage and when change begins to happen, the other party complains about the drastic change in behavioural pattern. Then you are likely to hear a saying such as: “you are not the person I married”.
The Exclusivity of the N-Word
The N-Word has been a subject of debate and those without African heritage really think it’s a double standard for those with African ancestry to have the n-word exclusively to themselves. Feeling left out is quite understood but unfounded. Furthermore, if we go back to where it all started, we’ll realise that the word isn’t a complimentary word when it was invented by the masters of the slave trade. The n-word was uttered to make a slave feel small. But as time went on, the freeborn reinvented the word to ease the pain and memory associated with a word created to demean their race. And that makes the word off limits to anyone who doesn’t share such historical background.
Pride Comes After a Win
Processes are never fun, they are outrightly tedious and straining. The journey is there to test the resolve of whoever is willing to dare. Sometimes, giving up looks attractive whenever the doubts begin to creep in. While the body is being trained physically, the mind is also trained. Combat sport is as hard as they come.
