Knowing that female magazine are usually edited by fellow women, I ventured to find out what women like to read from fellow women’s point of view. My expectations were; fashion, shopping, food, love and romance, and most of all gossip about fellow women and judgment on men.
In this same fashion, I have reasoned that a Male magazine must as a necessity include naked women, sampling of steroid-induced muscles, exercise regimes, cars, dangerous lifestyles and adventure. In my opinion, the content of the male magazine cannot be the same as the female magazine.
I went further to anticipate the content of Women Libers’ Magazine and I guessed it should contain biographies of hard women who have achieved lengths in their chosen professions, protests over treatments they consider high-handedness of men, complaints and more complaints about harassment, intimidation and lost opportunities.
Even in the area of ‘what men can do, women can do better’, I expect to see women whose muscles are bigger than the male. My first shock was when I found a Women’s magazine discussing fuel economy, an area I had considered along with cars, to be a male area. And a Male magazine discussing food and how to prepare it shocked me. Women are supposed to be captains in the kitchen and men lovers of cars, so you can see how my surprise built up.
For the sake of feminine decency, I did not expect Women’s magazines to be explicit on sex because they always complain about rape and would prefer the female organ covered to prevent enticing men from seeking live models. But there was more sex in feminine magazines. As expected, since most cases of bulimia are women starving themselves in order to be slim, Women’s magazine dwelt more on dieting.

Another thrill I found in Female magazines is that there is a harvest of fine stories. You don’t get stories in most male magazines. Another surprise was that most Male magazines do not indulge in pornography. They, however, teach techniques of “hunting women.” They tend to treat women with a kind of respect woman magazine do not give themselves at least in a man’s view.
Most surprisingly, most Women’s magazines do not bother about childcare or parenting which is thought to be women’s soft spot in life.
The male magazine can also bore the male if you are not an exercise freak or a devoted risk-taker or stunt fan. Most as expected, talk about money-making issues, business and politics. Some allow the reader’s protests to feature as a medium to vent public anger.
Most readers of magazines look out for stories and the brazen boldness in discussing sexuality. For these, feminine magazines are more contemporary. Some even discuss housekeeping decoration and gardening which are very much liked by men but considered too domestic to be given adequate attention.
Hey men, you lose nothing of your manliness if you patronize feminine magazines. You might even learn to know women more through their magazine.
Know this simple truth, despite the pretence, women love sex too and are also wild in the act. They are not as shy as we men think.
